Ironic that the Dremel filament gave me the worst time with a Dremel printer. It would clog, bunch up, and generally suck at its only job. After 3 failed attempts, I ended up throwing the rest in the trash. Next time Ill save myself the trouble and just throw some money in the trash instead. I switched filament brands and havent had any issues since.

The material itself is pretty decent. The finished parts are strong, have good interlayer adhesion, and look pretty nice. Under ideal circumstances this is a great product. However, the ideal circumstances are about the first 25-30% of the spool. PLA is known to be brittle and this filament has a great deal of shape memory, retaining the curve of its winding around the spool. At the beginning of the spool thats not a very tight arc but the arc gets tighter as you progress through the spool. This means the filament becomes resistant to the changes in direction as it is pulled into the extruder. Eventually the arc is so tight it tries to retract unto the spool, making it difficult for the extruder to pull in and leading to under extrusions. As others have shown when left to sit the tension on the inherent bend leads to the filament snapping. While I havent had this happen during a print it does mean I have to go through the change filament process every time I start a print. This filament is a good choice for parts where you need good mechanical performance and can tolerate some aesthetic flaws.

While I love my 3D printer this filament is garbage. Its just this color though. Its brittle, hard to use, and its a real shame because its a pretty color

This keeps snapping, mid print ...

The printer itself is a good deal for the money, the filament is another story. They arent chipped, but they are smaller than normal spools with a very small hub to fit inside the printer, so 3rd party spools will not fit. Having the spool inside is actually kind of nice and price per spool is not too much different than other filament. The problem I have is the quality control on the filament is abysmal. I have had 2 separate rolls with giant, random blobs where the filament diameter was suddenly double. This instantly jams the extruder to the point that I had to disassemble it. Another roll was horribly tangled right out of the package and kept knotting itself up. Another roll was wavy instead of straight and kept causing jams. Another problem with the small rolls is as you get to the end, the filament is curved so tightly that it tends to snap going into the feed tube. This is an easy fix, as you can download and print an external spool hanger and use anything you want. Try looking on Thingiverse for a download.

I have 12 3D Printers. 1 Prusa MK3S, 1 Matterhacker Pulse XE Advanced NylonX, 1 Dremel 3D45, 2 Dremel 3D40, and 7 Dremel 3D20 printers. These are my own personal printers and I use them to build several projects with my kids everyday. We design and build our own things using Matter Control, Slicer, Tinkercad, Autocad and Autodesk Print Studio. We have tried the other brands of Filaments from the different vendors but we now only buy filaments from Dremel, Matterhacker and Coex. For my more exotic filaments for the Prusa and Pulse XE Advanced NylonX, I buy from Matterhacker and Coex. But for PLA for my Dremel, It is only the Dremel PLA that is worth it for my Dremels. I have a Dremel 3D20 with the top opened feeding from a 5 lb. Spool of PLA from COEX. But all the other Dremels only use Dremel filaments. One reason is that I really like their filaments. After figuring out the perfect slice settings, I get perfect prints every time. And All my printers are printing every day non-stop. With the cheaper filaments, I find that the slicer settings that were perfect with one spool, is not perfect for the next spool. Also, since I have long print times, I like it that the Dremels are enclosed so dust does not get in and ruin my builds. The Dremel PLA filaments are the level if the PLA Pro in Color and consistency. The colors are bright. They are also silky and have a pretty sheen. The white us very white, unlike the slightly off white if the cheap brands. Look at the picture of the things I am building as they are so silky that you can see the reflection of the LED lights of the printer on the object. Mind you I am printing those in the lowest quality setting for Fast print. I have been using their filament for years. I find I spend less money because there are less errors so I don’t have to repeat as much as the cheaper filaments. The last thing you want to do is feed garbage to your beautiful Dremel. I tinkered with one Dremel and found that it just is not worth it. This Machine was designed to use this filament. Filaments are very different based on the manufacturer. I found the perfect settings for my use years ago, and I have not changed them since my filaments are consistent. Feel feee spending all your time trying to print perfectly with other filaments. You will have to find the perfect print temperatures for different layers, perimeter and layering, cooling, adhesion, support, infill, retraction, Z offset.....among the hundreds of things you will need to experiment with. That is assuming you have had lots of experience making those adjustments. Or you can just get the filament that was meant for this printer and be done with it. Dremels are known to be the easiest to use, reliable and among the best print quality. Use it the way it was intended.

Prints great in my Dremel 3D20! Comes out as a somewhat/almost translucent like. Very nice color. Only downfall is that your paying a lot for half the filament compared to other filament brands. Dremel would sell a lot more if their filament prices were more competitive.
