Freud 40-114: 1-5/8 (Dia.) Chamfer Bit

Dont be fooled by the item name, this bit actually has a 1/2 shank. As with all Freud bits, this is a great item.

The bit is not large enough to chamfer a 3/4 thick board. It leaves a flat ridge at the bottom of the board. Other reviews said it was so Im disappointed that I wasted my money.

I bought this bit specifically for a project I was working on. Worked well, but unfortunately the bit chipped during its first use. Was kind of disappointed in the quality.

I bought this bit specifically for one table top, 23 X 50. I wanted to put a 1/4 chamfer around the edge. This bit burned up and started leaving streaks in the maple before I could finish. It took a lot of hand sanding to remove the burn marks. This is so unusual for Freud. I wish I could return it.

I have used on several Baltic birch projects. Some of the edges were the only 1/8 cuts and they look great. They did need a very fine sand prior to paint, bit it was minimal.

This is exactly as expected. I started buying Freud bits to replace old worn or damaged. Will continue to do so.

the bit costs more than my Harbor Freight router. Their bits were not rated at the speed of their routers.
