I will be comparing my experiences with the DXR-8 Pro and tell you why I switched over from the Nanit Pro system. I have been using the DXR-8 Pro almost a month now. Hopefully my review helps other parents, especially the first time parents who are still figuring things out like we were. I found this monitor after unpleasantly using the nanit pro system for maybe two months before it had the audacity to crap out the first time my infant got sick with a cough. Just poof, won’t connect via Bluetooth anymore. We frustratingly tried all the troubleshooting in the universe for nanit pro. I even reached out to useless customer service who was zero help before finally unplugging the nanit pro, tossing it in a drawer and deleting the app from my phone. “We hates it forever!!” I will say this once for whoever is reading this, the nanit pro system is expensive garbage!! I wasted baby shower gift cards to purchase the $300 monitor system that is stupidly useless without a simple Bluetooth connection. Then, surprise: you have to shell out more money after the first year for a mandatory subscription just to safely monitor your baby, which is rarely mentioned until you’re already at home setting up the camera/app. Ok, rant over. Now, after painstakingly researching, finding out baby monitors could be hacked into, I found the DXR-8 Pro: it’s simple, no nonsense, no hacking, no WiFi outages, no app to run down your cell battery, no failed Bluetooth connections, no sneakily saving your data to the cloud for perverts.. *takes huge sigh of relief* Just plug in camera, make sure monitor is charged and have the peace of mind that you can clearly and safely monitor your child. The picture quality, both day and night vision, is just as clear as the nanit pro. What’s even better, there is no annoying, obnoxiously audible, clicking sound when switching between the two. The menu pulls up on the left side of the monitor screen and the background is transparent so you can still see what your child is doing even while adjusting your settings. Easy access to volume and brightness buttons on top of monitor, plus the on/off button doubles as a sleep mode button. The arrow buttons on the DXR-8 Pro monitor allow you to adjust the camera view up and down or rotate to either side. However, the nanit pro is fixed to the wall and you have to mount it high enough to get a full view of the crib, which is a minimum of 6ft. Then if you’re short like me, it becomes super fun in the midst of troubleshooting/resetting the camera when you can barely reach it behind the crib. You will never have that issue with DXR-8 Pro. I appreciate ALL of these small details after using the nanit pro app. With DXR-8 Pro I have the flexibility to leave my monitor screen on with or without sleep mode, I can choose after how long I would like the monitor to go into sleep mode, or never go into sleep mode. Then if my son makes noise, the light bar plus volume settings will still alert me. The DXR-8 Pro monitor is as big as my iPhone pro max and has a kickstand that is as wide as the length of the monitor itself so I don’t have to worry about it tipping over on my nightstand while sleepily adjusting the volume at night. I do however worry that I might drop the monitor, so I also use the kickstand as a handle to carry while walking from room to room.. as parents do, multitasking, with full hands. Unlike another monitor I purchased then returned before finding the DXR-8 Pro, the charging cables are labeled. They are very specific as to which cable goes with each device.. the monitor cable says monitor, the camera cable says camera. Very straight forward, no guess work or worry if I’m going to damage it straight out of the box. In the box, I also received an additional charging cable that is for a usb portable battery. I wish the wide angle lens also came with everything but it’s not absolutely necessary for me to have it. The lens attachment that did come in the box is for additional zoom but the standard lens already zooms quite far so I don’t see the need for it. The signal bars stay all the way up, I’ve never had an issue with glitches even while standing outside the front of my house. I’ve never had to use the antenna, I actually forgot the monitor even had one because I leave it folded down. Another plus side, there’s no lagging!! With the nanit pro, my kid would cry in real time then a couple seconds later it would come through the nanit pro app. For the supposed technology the nanit has, that’s ridiculous. With the DXR-8 Pro I have experienced zero lagging issues so far. A couple minor downsides which held me back from giving the DXR-8 Pro the full five stars: battery life is atrocious, I have to leave the monitor plugged in at night or the monitor will certainly die. Secondly, there’s no volume control for when talking to your child through the monitor. Unless I’m just not seeing it. I tested the talk button in my usual tone, I could hear myself from almost two rooms away and I felt like my son thought I was screaming at him.. I swear I wasn’t haha. Overall, I would 10/10 recommend the DXR-8 Pro baby monitor above others, especially above nanit pro, and I would absolutely purchase the DXR-8 Pro again if I had to.

We have had our DXR 8 Pro for right about 2 years. We started having video connectivity issues with the monitor to the cameras so we reach out to the support team at infant optics. They were great! They walked us through (many different scenarios) how to reset and and test our monitor. All of the testing and adjustments did not solve the issue we were having unfortunately. Due to no resolution the team at Infant Optics offered to send us a new monitor at no charge and it arrived with in 3 business days. We then returned the old unit for them as requested. Several days later the team at Infant Optics (specially Zeil) reached out to check in on us. By far the best customer support we’ve had on any type of infant/baby care item. Super satisfied with the support through the entire process given by Zeil. Go buy an Infant Optics Setup!

I like the monitor, easy to use and simpler then the previous model. The microphone that picks up the sound could use improvment for my needs, but it works fine. I bought the wide angle zoom lens seperately for my installation.

Quick response, remote control of camera is a great feature, great resolution. A glaring minus: charging port broke in exactly one year. Seem like a common issue. They quickly replaced the monitor though, so excellent customer service.

The camera is good so far. Resolution is good, havent had any range issues. The Active Noise Rejection cuts down the white noise machine significantly but not completely (which is fine, they never claimed it would work 100% with noise machines). One problem Ive noticed is the audio level indicator takes quite a bit of noise before it registers at all, which is a bummer since wed hoped to use it in audio-only mode with the volume down just using the meter. My guess is this is related to the ANR and would be more sensitive if it werent trying to cut out a noise machine, but I havent tested it. Not sure on the battery life yet, we mostly keep it plugged in. So overall, great monitor so far. Unfortunately, after you register the warranty they coax you HARD with a free second camera (normally $100) into joining some loyalty club, which involves writing a review wherever you bought it. Its not 100% clear if youd get the camera if you dont give them five stars, but they make it super clear they REALLY want you to give them five stars. I think this is a good enough product that the reviews would speak for themselves without this sketchy solicitation. They seem to already have a good reputation so I dont know who thought this was a good idea, but it was disappointing and guts my trust in the company from the get-go.

I did so much research for baby monitors but this one is so nice. Not only do I love the fact that it is not connected to WiFi but it’s good quality and easy to use.

I think that this is the best monitor by far out of all the monitors that I have bought. I love the zoom, rotating the camera via the parents monitor. However I have a few complaints. One of the main reasons I bought this was the noise reduction system it has on it and it works pretty well when I can use it. However I just set up a 2nd camera and when you have it in scan the monitor will tell you that the noise reduction system turns off and doesnt work. I cant begin to understand why they would advertise this point without telling people this unless I missed it but even if I did it doesnt make sense. The other issue I have is that when you are speaking through the monitor you have to let whoever you are speaking to count to 5 because there is a 5 second delay before someone can speak. I have to tell me kids to count to 5. Again this is ridiculous and should not be the case. The other issue I have and I think this is with all monitors is that when you are far away from whoever you are speaking to the parent monitor can at points cut out but by far this has been the best with overall experience. I believe if your going to charge someone the type of money that thus monitor is then it should not have at least the 5 second delay in which the party on the other side can speak but again I would think they would have also found a solution for still having noise reduction in scan mode.

Definitely happy with this monitor and I take it with me when I travel too. Its not perfect but in monitor worlds it is close to it -- I think monitors have a bit of a way to go to be extremely optimal but it is definitely the best out there right now. Also so worth it because the customer service is amazing! My monitor malfunctioned and after reaching out to them and trying to troubleshoot, they sent me a new one and the process was easy breazy. Kristine Z was a pleasure to deal with.

Ive owned two of these baby monitor systems and have LOVED them. Ran into a small issue a couple years in and the companys customer service was wonderful! Highly recommend!

The Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO video baby monitor is our most advanced monitor yet. As a parent, you want digital security without internet connectivity for an added layer of protection against hackers that may be able to access your camera over the internet. Operating on 2nd-generation FHSS frequency in a closed-loop system that does NOT utilizes your home WiFi, only YOU can see and hear your baby. The DXR-8 PRO features cutting edge features such as Active Noise Reduction (ANR), a high definition display, and interchangeable lenses. ANR is an option that can be toggled on or off to filter any background noise such as fans, air conditioners, humidifiers, and air purifiers, that are commonly heard on baby monitors as "static noise". When it comes to video clarity, the monitor features a 5" ultra-clear LCD display at 720P resolution with enhanced night vision. The three-step digital zoom can be operated with the optical zoom lens (included) so that you can zoom in to see your baby sleeping in 6x zoom without causing the pixelation and blurring seen on other monitors. All functions are controlled on our next-generation user interface. Dedicated volume and brightness controls on the top of the monitor unit. Brightness of the LED lights (power and LED sound bar) can be dimmed so it won"t shine your room bright at night. Standard features such as two-way talk back, sleep mode, night vision included. Monitor wakes instantly from sleep mode with a press of any button. Pair with portable battery pack (sold separately) for up to 24 hours battery life. Comes with manufacturer"s 1 year warranty, extendable to 2 years for free upon registration. Note: predecessor model DXR-8 camera units are NOT compatible with the DXR-8 PRO.
