> 3 dayWe upgraded to this camera when our 2nd was born. We love that it can switch back and fourth between the two cameras and you can even add up to 4. Picture quality and sound are great. We did A LOT of research before selecting this setup. A little over a year after purchase we starting having issues with the monitor itself where it would shut off or have no picture and the company was excellent in getting us a prompt replacement. We are very happy!

> 3 dayWe couldnt be happier with our system and have been very pleased with the customer support from Infant Optics. Weve been using the monitor/camera for a couple of years now, and its been great. Recently, though, we started having problems turning the monitor on. I decided to reach out to customer support to see if they had any recommendations, even though it was out of warranty. To my surprise, they replaced the camera anyway. Their replacement arrived quickly and has worked flawlessly. All that to say, were really impressed! We like companies that stand behind their products. I will also add that we recently acquired a second camera to monitor a different room, and the monitor has worked very well for that, too. Users can quickly bounce back and forth between different cameras -- it works great. Were impressed and so glad we chose the DXR8-Pro!

> 3 dayThe regular DXR-8 continues to get good ratings and have strong recommendations from parents, so I can’t say it’s a bad product. What I can say, though, is that the pro version is a quantum leap from the regular version, and so worth the extra cost. After four years with the regular version, I got irritated that it would continually lose signal in our basement with the cameras on the second floor, so we finally decided to buy the Pro. The screen and clarity of picture, the noise, reduction features, the user interface, everything is just so much better in the pro version that I only regret we didn’t make the switch much sooner. In summary: pay the extra for the Pro, it’s so worth it.

> 3 dayI like the monitor, easy to use and simpler then the previous model. The microphone that picks up the sound could use improvment for my needs, but it works fine. I bought the wide angle zoom lens seperately for my installation.

Greater than one weekIve only had the DXR-8 PRO for a couple days (since Nov 9, 2020), but so far its great. I suppose it might be possible to get a better picture elsewhere (a wifi based system) but this one is the best Ive seen (compared to my old monitor and those of family and friends, none of which are the DXR-8 PRO). I specifically wanted a monitor with better night vision than the old one I had and Im quite pleased with the night vision on this! We were looking for a non-wifi system as we didnt want to have our baby monitor hooked up to the internet for three reasons: first, the internet isnt the most reliable (mediacom) and Id hate to lose signal on the monitor simply because the wifi was down; second, security concerns, and third, we hope to move to the country and internet is at a premium there, so the less using it the better. I also really wanted the ability to pan and tilt the camera so that Id be able to see the whole room, and the ability to talk back (great for when youre trying to work in the kitchen downstairs and your toddler needs reminded to lay down and be quiet). Its cold out so I havent tested the range outside yet, but I havent had any issues inside and I havent popped up the antenna on the monitor once. I love the fact that therere dedicated buttons for the volume (some monitors I considered didnt have this) and the talk back feature (best friends has talk back but you have to push another button before you can use it). While not something I had to have its also nice to have the dedicated screen brightness buttons, as Im used to that from my old monitor. The Active Noise Reduction is nice, I tend to turn it off while my kids are going to sleep as It makes their musical seahorses sound warbled (not the kids) it is designed for blocking out a steady noise (a fan, HVAC, etc.) the music from the seahorses is constant (when theyre on) not steady (hope that makes sense). Turning the ANR on/off is easy thanks to the fact that one of the main buttons controls it (buttons are much nicer than menus IMO). I like having the volume light bar (also something Im accustomed to from my old monitor). Im also glad that the volume gets loud enough for me to hear it over other things going on (best friends is too quiet at full volume). I cant speak to the battery life, as I have the monitor plugged in most of the time. Its nice to have two cords for the monitor (it came with two; one plugs into a wall outlet the other a USB) so I dont have to bring to cord with me upstairs/downstairs if I want to plug it in (which I usually do) though it would be nice if the USB cord were a little longer (its just over three feet in length); The other cord is plenty long. The sleep timer is easily adjusted (1, 3, 5min or off) and pressing any button turns the screen back on (nice in a dark room) and then you press the sleep button to turn the screen back off (or wait on the timer). The whole thing is very easy to set up. Id say the most difficult thing about setting up the unit was feeding the cord behind a set of shelves so it would be out of the way, though my husband would probably say the mounting of it was (took him maybe 3 minutes to drill a hole put in the anchor and screw and hang the camera) the camera and monitor come already paired (though the instructions on how to do it are included, and its very simple) so its really a plug it in, turn it on and youre done system. I like the fact that Infant Optics sells replacement batteries and cords so if someday I feel I need a new battery or cord I can easily get one. I also had the pleasant surprise of being able to extend my warranty for an additional year (there was a card informing me of this in the pouch with the user manual) if I made sure to register my DXR-8 PRO within 7 days. Though hopefully I wont ever need the warranty. All in all Im very happy with the DXR-8 PRO.

> 3 dayI cannot say anything bad about this product OR the company! I had an issue with my monitor and I was able to get a replacement so easily! With another baby on the way, I am so grateful that I was able to fix my issue. The company is so reliable and goes above and beyond for their customers and for that, I will be a customer for life!! The monitor connection can reach far enough for me to be able to go hang out outside at a campfire or enjoy our large yard! The quality is top notch and I LOVE that it doesn’t need WIFI! Best monitor and camera on the market by far. You’d be doing yourself or a family a disservice if you were to go with a different baby monitor :)

> 3 dayWe bought this camera because we were looking for a baby moniter that wasnt easy to hack into. We liked this because the video feed can only be seen on the moniter it comes with. The picture quality is pretty good. I wish the screen was a bit larger. The night vision is great, very crisp and clear. You can zoom in and move the camera to look around the room. Its nice to be able to move the camera to find the cat that snuck into babies room. This camera works great for what we use it for and it was a good price.

> 3 dayI love this camera. The two negatives are the kick stand it has on the back is thin and one side of ours broke very easier. The other is having to mount it on the wall when he starts moving around the crib more. There’s no stand for it so it’s basically mounting a nail on the wall and hanging it on that like you would a picture. Just flimsy. But the picture quality and zoom ability is great.

> 3 dayWe upgraded to the DXR-8 Pro a little over a year ago to replace our DXR-8 that we left at our family’s house so we wouldn’t have to bring it back and forth (we still use the old model when we are visiting and it is still great). We were so impressed with the new features of the DXR-8 Pro and love the larger color screen on the monitor. We have 3 cameras paired to the monitor and it really makes it easy to adjust volume and to change cameras with this new model. Even more impressive than the products is the level of responsiveness from the customer support team when we had a pairing issue with our monitor. We reached out to them over email and had a response back same day with incredibly thorough responses and ideas. After trying to troubleshoot without success, the customer support team helped us step by step to request a replacement monitor and got it sent to us quickly. We really can’t remember the last time we have had such a positive customer support experience. We would highly recommend infant optics!!

> 3 dayWe held off for years on buying a daily-use video monitor - mostly because of poor reviews from other brands, while still desiring a no-wifi monitor that was HD and well rated. With our third baby due this fall, we were so excited to see the release of the DXR-8 PRO! The big HD screen is exactly what we wanted in a HD no-wifi monitor! We do have an older non-wifi video monitor that we use only in travel situations, while continuing to use an audio-only monitor at home. There are a couple of reasons for why we have stayed audio-only at home, and these are the two items I want to focus my review on why the DXR-8 PRO is an amazing monitor system and has now replaced our need for our audio-only monitor. 1.) Night vision 2.) Active Noise Reduction (ANR) Night Vision Our older travel video monitor system has night vision, but the infrared lights on that monitor were not very high quality. Both of us and our children could actually see a little bit of red glow on that systems infrared LEDs that surround the camera. Might not be a problem for some, but we have trained all our kids to sleep in the pitch dark. Monitors become distractions if they generate too much light. Now, onto the DXR-8 PRO. This unit uses high quality infrared lighting, we couldnt see any glow with our eyes from this unit. Additionally, the green LED light on the front of the camera unit DIMMED to a lower brightness when night mode activated. We were grateful for this feature! On the monitor side, the night vision is very clear. See the attached picture and remember that we keep our rooms PITCH DARK. The camera is able to see our middle child just fine in the crib in a pitch dark room! Active Noise Reduction The other problem we didnt like with our travel video monitor system was it had no sensitivity to room noise. This was a feature we really have come to like on our audio only monitor. On the DXR-8 PRO, they added ANR to help with this issue. We have been very impressed so far! The monitor does give a fair warning that it doesnt work that well with SOME sound machines, but it has worked perfectly with ours! We do have the video monitor several feet above the crib on a wall mount, and the sound machine is on the other side of the room. That may help, but regardless - the monitor is not passing the sounds of the sound machine or the house ductwork. While ANR might not be as fancy as our audio-only units with sensitivity levels (you cant adjust the cut-in point), it definitely does the job of not bothering us with most of the unnecessary noises, while still cutting in and letting us hear our childs crys or talking noises. The only super MINOR issues we have with DXR-8 PRO are trivial. The temp gauge on the camera is not accurate (in the picture you see it says 64 degrees, dont worry! Our house is not that cold, the house is much closer to 70 / 71 at the time of the photo). And finally, as I mentioned we keep our rooms PITCH DARK, which includes our room. The lights on the baby monitor are dimmable, and we just flip the monitor face down next to us so any accidental screen activations dont brighten up the whole room, however, the very tiny charging light on the side turns blue when fully charged - and its a little more light than wed like to see. I say this is super minor though - if you have ANY tiny bit of light in your room, you wont even see this, but we notice it because our bedroom is 100% pitch dark and this light provides enough light to illuminate some things. We plan on covering it up with a very small piece of electrical tape. If I had but one tiny feature suggestion, it would be a setting to turn off the charging indicator light on the side of the unit. Im sure its a nice feature for most people, however, as it allows you to plug in the monitor in a dark room and know that the unit is charging without turning on a bright screen to see the on-screen battery indicator. We would just be turning that light off, if there was a setting for it. All-in-all, we LOVE this unit. This is a camera unit we will be recommending for years to come to anyone who needs a good camera and doesnt want to have any security risks with wifi based cameras.
