InSinkErator Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, Badger 5, Standard Series, 1/2 HP Continuous Feed, Black

My last one rusted out after 16 years. It was the same brand so install of the replacement couldnt be simpler. They used the same mounting bracket on the sink so it was just a matter of twist off the old and twist on the new. If this one lasts another 16 years, itll be worth it.

This badger 5 replaced a previous insinkerator that lasted 10 years. The installation was a breeze and there are plenty of great you tube videos for tips and tricks. If installing solo make sure to get a good tub of plumber’s putty and use the disposal to weigh it down from the top while you put in the sink flange. Total time for me to install was under 30 minutes.

I bought this to replace an older model that had worn out. It came with all the parts needed for the installation and the instructions were very good. This unit mated up to the existing mounting collar and plumbing so it turned out to be about a ten minute job.

I previously had a Whirlpool model that looked identical to the InSinkErator brand, including the mounting bracket. I bought the InSinkErator thinking I could just do an easy swap and I was right. The overall swap took 10 minutes. I put some of the extra parts away for future use and Im back in business.

Replacing the old disposal was very easy with this new one. I was able to use the same hardware and went on very nicely. I did have to change the length of a few of the PVC pipes for the sink/drains but that is to be expected. Very happy with the purchase!

Very easy to install especially if your current sink trim ring is in presentable condition. My trim ring was okay but its rubber skirt was a mess. Good news is that a new skirt is provided with the unit and it does not requite removal of the trim ring to install the new one. I wish it was a little quieter. My sink is composite (inherently quieter) so I expected a little better. A stainless sink will likely be a bit noisier yet. Just a comment. Doesnt invalidate the overall goodness of the unit.

I ordered this unit to replace an existing insinkerator disposal. With a replacement unit you dont have to remove and reinstall the mounting system which saves a lot of time and frustration for someone who is not a plumber or a handyman like me. Make sure you check the unit you are ordering for electrical cord. Some units come with the cord pre-installed and some come without a cord. I wanted to use my existing cord since it was already installed by an electrician. The first unit I ordered came with an attached cord and I needed to send it back and get one without a cord.
