I see widely different reviews of this product and most of the positive ones emphasize the importance of following the instructions carefully! I totally agree and would add set aside enough time to be really focused on the process as there will be important options and choices to make. Also read as many message board discussions to catch nuances for your PCs. That said, it worked well for me. I was transferring from a nine year old HP desktop windows 7 with a single c drive to a new HP desktop windows 10 with two drives, a big 2TB hard drive and a 256 SSD drive. Like many new computers, the operating system and most programs (now called applications!) are on the fast SSD drive, but your data is stored (preferrably) on the big hard drive. Since the old single drive was labelled c, it wanted to move everything to the c drive, but this software allows you to designated where programs vs data go...you have to go thru the options carefully. Some data that is associated with an application will end up on the c drive, but that is fine...I just didnt want pictures, videos, documents to clutter it up. It gives you a list of the programs that will definitely transfer (and you can exclude those you dont want to transfer) a list of those that might not transfer well, and those that definitely cannot be transferred.

I used it to transfer the OSs (Win 7 and Win 10; separate licenses). It did exactly what was claimed for it. Additionally, when I had to repeat the Win 7 transfer due to a problem caused by a Microsoft update, Laplink reactivated the license so I could redo the transfer.

You have to follow all the directions to the letter, but it works pretty well once it gets going. There are a few tweaks with drivers once you get to the new computer because there usually are two nonidentical computers. It is the fourth time I have moved to a new computer, and this is the company I always use.

I was a little worried about how this software would work based on the wide range of feedback.

The easiest way to move data from one PC to another especially from windows 7 to windows 10 makes life better!

I recently got a new computer and dreaded having to transfer everything over from the old one. Did some research and came up with this. It took a while, but it worked great. Dont believe the few minutes type language. It took a couple of hours, but that was OK. My main gripe is that for $40 you should be able to use it more than once.

Moved programs and data. Programs run well on new computer!
