Read the instructions before connecting the two laptops. I messed up and needed technical support. They were very helpful and connected with the two laptops to fix the communication issue. If I had followed instructions, it would have gone flawlessly.

Made the transfer of data from my old laptop to the new very easy.

New computer would not boot after using this software. I followed the prep checklist provided on the cd. First, the included transfer cable did not work. So, transferred using wifi. After, it was done, the new computer would not boot up. So, had to do a factory restore to it. Since the software is one time use, I had to call laplink to get them to reset serial number. Second attempt, same result. New computer would not boot. Called laplink tech support. Response was do a factory restore on new computer and try again. Told them I did that already. Said try again. I hung up. Factory restored the new computer again. And, decided to just manually transfer everything which actually took less time than when I tried using the software.

tech support is about the only thing that is good about PCmover

Initially, this software looked like magic. In addition to my personal subscription to Office, I had about a dozen programs to carry over to the new system. Except for office, they all installed fine. I had to re-entered software license keys on several, but I expected that. The big thing was (a) I didnt have reinstall them; and (b) all of my preferences carried over.

Ratings pointed me the direction of this product. HOWEVER, dont be mislead by the great words saying what it can do. Yep it does move file from one to another fairly easily. That is true. If you are looking to move just files and data then this product is for you. Now be careful on applications! Yes they tell you on the box and advertisements that some applications will have challenges. I did not have a lot of applications so I was up for a try. Not one application moved over without a tremendous amount of work to get them running again. Dont waste your money on this product to just move files or data. Just use a USB drive and reload your applications. You will be much happier in the end. Less frustration and out a lot of money.

Some one else has mentioned this and from my perspective it is essential to read all the instructions before you start and keep them handy so you can refer to them. I had no difficulty with the transfer. It went smoothly and the download went fairly quickly. I used the ethernet cable connection. I did let some time pass before I made the transfer and had to have my license reactivated but I went to the chat room and they easily and readily reactivated it. My problem began when I made a mistake and did not transfer some files that I needed. I did have trouble undoing the transfer and called several times in relation to that issue, but always was given useful suggestions. My experience with them was positive. It would be helpful if additional instructions were included those instances. My problems were of my own making and I shall give a five star rating.

Never could get it to move my files from one computer to another. You have to turn off firewalls and windows updates to make it work, so after several days of working in doing the transfer with no success, my new computer went blue screen. With windows 10, you must do daily windows updates or it shuts down the whole computer. $250 later, to repair my new computer, I gave up on this mover software and used external hard drives to transfer my files. Didn’t work for me.
