> 3 dayI finally replaced an outdated, unsupported Q-See camera and NVR system with this Reolink - great decision! I never did figure out all the settings on the Q-See NVR; they were confusing and some made no sense at all. After initially installing the Q-See system several years ago and it not working, and me trying to contact their Customer (non-)Support several times with no luck, the Q-See system just started working one day. Contrast that with me installing the Reolink 16 ch. NVR and connecting the 8 new Reolink cameras to it - I connected the Reolink NVR to the router; HDMI cable to a monitor; then plugged it in and turned it on before connecting any of the cameras to it. Then I connected the POE cameras one-by-one and let the NVR discover and assign a local address to each. With that job successfully completed, I downloaded the Reolink app and scanned the barcode on the NVR - instant setup of the system on the app and I can see all 8 cameras on my phone! I cant speak to the effectiveness of Reolink customer support as Ive not yet had to contact them!

> 3 dayThis was my first security camera system which I set up at my residence. Manuals and equipment was easy to understand and set up (I am a computer geek, though). I did have to buy some different sleeves for the camera mounting screws. The ones that came with it werent suitable for the hardboard siding in my eaves. After I got past that it was smooth sailing. The only thing I dont like is that the camera does not properly ignore motion in areas you configure. The setup screens let you block off areas of each camera that you dont want to receive motion detection alerts for. Unfortunately, many times you get an alert when there is motion only in the areas that you have told the cameras to ignore. (I tested this rigorously and confirmed this was not an issue due to shadows, vibration, etc..)

> 3 dayI was a little apprehensive about this purchase as I had recently purchased and returned a competing product that cost several hundred dollars more, and saw some reviews indicating the cameras were no better than the 1080p that had been replaced. I can say that it seems likely that the person who only got 1080p resolution must have been using a monitor that only had 1080p capability, because Im on a 4K television, and the images are stunningly beautiful 4K. A few things to mention...first off, I replaced a 1080P wireless system, for perimeter cameras around my yard. For this installation, I purchased CAT5 direct burial cable and a few gig switches so that I could run as few cables around the yard as possible, and bring only a single cable into the home. There is no problem connecting the cameras in this way. I have 16 ports on the back of the DVR, with only a single CAT6 cable connected, and 8 cameras on a series of 3 switches and the video is perfect. As for quality, the cameras have very sturdy mounting, and feel very solid. The video in full daylight provides rich color and fluid video with no jitters or drop-outs at 25 frames per second. My only minor complaint is that the infrared on a couple of the cameras seems a bit weak...I will swap them to see if it is the camera, or if the area just needs a second source of infrared light. (Update: I found the issue of weak infrared light was caused low voltage at several of the cameras. Due to my using a separate power supply as I opted not to use POE, I needed a 10A 15V dc supply to get proper power out to cameras due to voltage drop in my long power feeder. All cameras work perfectly with the upgraded supply. This will not be an issue when using the system as designed with POE wiring.) The DVR is crammed full of features that are easy to use, and making adjustment is simple after an hour of exploration. I purchased a wireless keyboard/mouse combo and plugged into the USB port so I could make all adjustments to the system while sitting in my easy chair..the mouse function works perfect, the keyboard doesnt. Im not sure if this is an issue with the DVR not accepting keyboard input, or if the wireless keyboard is just not quite up to standard to fit the need. Ill be testing with a standard USB keyboard. Without the keyboard, it is still possible to enter text, but it is done with pop-up on screen keyboards, which are not my favorite. The iPhone app is great, I was shocked to find almost all the settings of the DVR are available right on the phone app. If you live in an area without good cell coverage youll likely be annoyed with the rate of video connection..I have good cell coverage, and found the video to the phone to be crystal clear and fluid. The app is very easy to use, and like the DVR navigation, its something you dont need to read a manual for, just explore and you will find a bunch of great options. I was glad to find all the settings are spelled correctly and match in purpose and navigation to the DVR. I was also impressed that when the iPhone app is first launched on the same network as the DVR, it automatically finds the DVR and all thats needed to confirm the connection is the admin password created at the first start-up of the system. (Update: I installed both Windows and Mac versions of the client software, and found it to be excellent. Every feature of the DVR and cameras appears to be available, and the video is as good as what I have on my TV or possibly better.) I would defiantly purchase this system again if I needed another, it has surpassed my expectations in many ways with very few minor issues..that Ill likely resolve on my own.

Greater than one weekthe system itself is fine but there are these black boxes that really serve no purpose in the lower corner of each picture. they don’t show up in remote view but they are quite annoying to have them on the monitor.

> 3 dayVery happy with Reolink, replaced a Q-See system who went out of business. NVR is fantastic, cameras are great, I upgraded the hard drives to 2 4TB to increase recording time. Also got a Amazon basic wireless mouse to use with the NVR and that works great.

> 3 dayI am very happy with this system and look into things to the nth degree before I buy them. I expect it to be easy and operate without issues when purchasing something in this range and this system has delivered all I was looking for and more. In short, there is nothing i dont like about this setup and it has worked flawlessly. Pros: 1. very clear, crisp images, great zoom, great night vision 2. easy setup with home network, viewable whether your phone is on your home network or out of the house 3. intuitive interface whether logging into the NVR directly, the phone app or the computer app 4. comes with everything you need including very nice weatherproof connections for the cameras. 5. All storage onsite - no cloud fees and no issues recording and saving data if internet goes out 6. Very easy to record clips and save to phone or computer. 7. Easily expandable for more cameras or larger/additional hard drive 8. Power over Ethernet makes for a simple install Observations (not really cons, but not pros): 1. With 8 cameras recording, the hard drive fills up within 2-3 weeks depending on settings. If you would like a longer period backup, it is easily upgradeable by adding an additional hard drive. 2. Make sure you attach all cameras to the NVR and set it up prior to mounting them, much easier not running from camera to camera if theres an issue. 3. Adding a camera and advanced diagnostics seem to be only available when logging directly into the NVR and not over the apps. I have the NVR Located in a place that is difficult to get to, so i had to run an hdmi cable through the attic to a tv in another room and use a wireless mouse that has a good range on it to access the NVR directly. Its annoying, but the rest of the system functionality and quality makes it very much worth it. 4. Tech support is purely through email. I had an issue with connectivity and the cameras dropping out initially. (make sure you update the firmware when you install it, I didnt at first and that was the problem) The tech support responded within an hour with the exact solution to my poorly described problem. They were great. Cons: 1. Motion detection is based on movement for these specific cameras. You really have to fine tune the sensitivity and area of detection for each camera to get a result that does not send a motion alert every few minutes. Reolink has smart cameras that can identify cars and people that work great at avoiding false alarms due to the wind blowing a branch across the cameras view, so when adding cameras look into them as well. If you have read this far, I hope this has been helpful. I would definitely recommend this and after a year I am very happy with the purchase.

Greater than one weekThe 8mp picture looks amazing, the 3tb harddrive will hold 8 days recorded with highest resolution recording and sound recording 24-7. Bit you can upgrade and add a second harddrive very easily. All in all I am very happy with the purchase.
