17-11-2024Works great, fast. My motherboard slows it down a bit, but faster then the mechanical drive. I did have a problem using the SATA/USB cable to migrate the data from the old hard drive to the Evo 850, as the Evo/IUSB was not recognized by the Samsung Migration Software ... no matter what I tried. Eventually, I used the new SATA cable I purchased at the same time, and connected the Evo directly into an extra SATA connection on the motherboard (the hard drive cable had a extra power connection) and connected the power. Then the Migration software worked perfectly. Im not great at the innards of computers, but by seeing where the cables and connection are, it was easy. The Evo is so lightweight, it just hung in the closed case while the data transfer took place. I did have to modify the 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hard drove adapter to fit my computer also. But all said and done, Im pleased with it.

Greater than one weekExcellent quality SSD and a worthwhile PC upgrade. But there are more than one cautions that isnt being divulged by the manufacturer in their literature. 1) Samsungs SSDs have an included feature called rapid mode that uses your RAM to speed things up. It does to an extent work but what Samsung doesnt tell you is that most the time it will work only with a Intel processor. AMD not so much. 2) Their migration software doesnt really clone the drive. It doesnt copy the partitions that are responsible for the recovery process. If you follow their procedure without creating a RECOVERY DISK it will be very difficult to perform any recovery procedure. Big miss!

> 3 dayWorks great in my wifes old PC. Added memory and this SSD and now her 8 year old computer is working at an excellent speed for the things she does on it.

> 3 dayIT WORKED! Able to revamp my 2008 Mac Book Pro so I could run OS 10.10 Yosemite. Along with 8GB of RAM, no problem at all. I followed instructions on CNET. Much speedier than Snow Leopard with the 8GB RAM and SSD! Fine product, easy to install.

> 3 dayThe drive works fine but using it to replace an existing drive on a notebook PC took about 40 hours. Ive built a half dozen PCs from scratch, several with Samsung SSDs and expected this to be easy. I wanted to copy the existing drive so my SO would not have all the hassles that come from a new operating system that is never configured exactly the same as the old one.. Just install the operating system from scratch if you are using a windows laptop / notebook. Use the Windows Easy Transfer (found in Control Panel --> Backup and hidden on the lower left portion of the backup screen.) You back up your files and settings before loading from scratch and restore them after the operating system is installed on the SSD. The Samsung Data Migration tool is very limited in functionality. Samsung locked the capabilities of the tool very tightly to ensure that it is only used with Samsung SSDs. It expects to copy from an existing C: drive to a new Samsung drive.. I could not connect my drives in a way that it would work. I used a notebook, external drive bay with USB 2 and 3, and even put both notebook drives in a desktop PC. The data migration software wouldnt even try to copy in most configurations. When it did run, it generated errors and did not copy the old drive or partitions. I tried quite a few other tools and methods for copying and ultimately none worked. The Samsung data migration tool should work so well that no one should go through this. Its better to let people use the software with other manufacturers SSD drives than have it not work for paying customers. This should have been very easy. This external drive connector worked great for moving data (just not with the Samsung software):

> 3 dayThe install on my early 2008 Macbook was straightforward. No special software or cloning apps are required. You just need a small Phillips screwdriver, a small torque screwdriver, your new SSD and a hard drive enclosure or adapter cable so you can partition the SSD before installing it. And of course, an external storage drive for backing up your system. You won’t need your OS on an external disk if your system is backed up and you’re just going to be restoring your system to the new drive. First, back up the existing hard drive using Time Machine. Put the new SSD into a hard drive enclosure and plug it into the Macbook and partition it. Then shut down the computer, remove the battery and bracket (2 or 3 screws) and remove the old hard drive. Remove new SSD from HD enclosure and replace the old hard drive with the new SSD (you’ll need your torque screwdriver now to remove the little casing from the old HD and put it on your new SSD). Then follow the simple prompts to choose the disk you want to restore from and select the new SSD as the disk you want to restore to. It took about 40 minutes to restore to the new SSD (I had about 50 GB stored on my system). After that the only issue I had was that I needed to find my copy of Office and re-register it using the Product Key. You might want to track down any software of this kind ahead of time to eliminate that moment of panic when you’re searching for it after the fact. All my programs load much faster now, and I haven’t seen a beachball since installing the new SSD. That was getting to be a very common and annoying experience so I’m very happy with this purchase.

> 3 dayIve been looking at different SSDs and decided to get this one. After using this product for almost a year, I can say that this is a great product! I used it to replace my hard disk drive in my laptop which was an easy installation and I noticed the speeds in boot time, opening apps, etc. So far no problems have come up and I would strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for an SSD to buy!

Greater than one weekworks great. easy to install (assuming you already know your way around the insides of your laptop). Got this for a macbook pro whos drive had died. Works like a charm and faster than new (cause it used to have an old 5400 rpm SATA drive).
