Just put this in to a new Dell Inspiron 3847 Desk top and it makes a huge difference in performance - the Win 7 splash screen doesnt have time to form a window before you are in to the desktop. However I did have some problems with the migration software - the hard disk was too big to fit on the SSD so I had to edit the files - however it did not format the donor hard disk when it completed. When it re-booted it was clear that it was booting from the original windows installation; and the SSD was visible from explorer - then disappeared.. I found the SSD in the BIOS and set it as the only disk - didnt boot. Unplugged original hard disk, still didnt boot. Checked with Magician and it said that there had been writing activity but the SSD was blank! So re-ran the cloning (where is claimed to be cloning itself - but clearly was not judging by the disk sizes) and re-started the computer _ success! What appears to have happened is that the SSD wiped itself or its MBR - so if you get a similar situation and it doesnt work straight away just check to see if has blanked itself and clone again.

Great drive, far better than the crappy slow mechanical drive that samsung put in my laptop.

Had issues installing windows 7 and 10. Both OSs were giving drive read errors. Tried updating firmware and the Samsung software kept failing to download. Drive ran fine for maybe 2 weeks then apps started crashing and all sorts of issues occurred. Returned drive and ordered a different brand. So far my crucial drive has been a much better experience.

Have used over 50 of these 850 EVOs now and they are certainly a large step up in system stability over the Kingstons I used prior. These 850 EVOs and the PROs are awesome SSDs. I havent had any issues with them at all. For me, these are all Ill use. As with any SSD, over partition the drive a bit by shrinking one partition and leave a few GB unallocated for the drive to use in the future should any bad blocks occur. Good practice to have and will ultimately make your drive last longer. Nothing against Kingston, you save a few $ by using them. Only thing with Kingstons is you must make sure the firmware is the most up to date, otherwise you may have issues, I know I did on a large amount of systems. Samsung on the otherhand... these have been great. I still update the firmware on the Samsungs as that is just a great habit to have. Always update the firmware on any hardware if you can.

No heating issues even in a humid country. Does everything i want it to, although if you play games, i reccomend getting a bigger drive. I regret getting a 250GB size since games are now 100GB+
