So far I dont see much improvement in performance. I do see slightly higher CPU temps along with added software and mem usage I didnt have or need before. If your computer is unkempt and runs bad, this may be for you. Before installation of 850 Evo I was running fast smooth and cool. If there was improvement somewhere, I havent found it yet. Ill hold on to it for now. Update:Noticeable load time improvements where it counts. Star added. Hey Samsung, just dont use this item to track me.

Very quick boot up and programs open very fast. Been in service for little over a month.

Works fine, just like the sister drive I bought to speed up my laptop. This is my backup drive, now that I run the risk of the laptop SSD going dead. The Samsung data migration tool works fine and a swap-out shows they work.

Wow! What a difference from my old 7200 rpm HDD. BOOT to internet in under 30 seconds. Only downside is software disc version 4.5 was not compatible so I had to go to Samsung site and download latest version. Install worked flawlessly after that with Windows 10. I would highly recommend upgrading to SSD at least for running your OS. You wont regret it.

This SSD is amazing. I have purchased 3 different SSD in the last few months, and have tested them all with the same Win7 Enterprise image on the same computer, and this drive is by far the fastest of the group. It has a better warranty than the other drives (75TB of writes to the drive over the course of 5yrs, comes to over 40GB of data writes every day), is expected to last considerably longer, and is actually the lightest of the group as well. The 120GB Patriot Torch gave me a Windows Experience Level of 6.9, I upgraded to the Kingston v300 120GB and my Experience Level jumped to a 7.3, then I upgraded to this Samsung 850 Evo 250GB and my Experience Level is maxed at 7.9. I transferred the Samsung 850 Evo into my laptop, SATA3, AHCI, and enabled the Rapid Mode. I had 4GB of ram (I have since upgraded to 8GB) and Rapid Mode takes a full 1GB of my memory about 15-20 seconds after booting up, the ram cache is how the read and write speeds are almost triple the standard speeds most of the other SSDs claim to get while using SATA3. Turning off Rapid Mode stops the takeover of the 1GB of ram and my read/write speeds fall to regular 550MBs as stated. As I understand it, Rapid Mode can take up to 4GB of memory if your system has 16GB or more available. I had 4gb of system ram and Rapid Mode only took 1GB (letting me sit idle at 2.5GB used on a fresh bootup), after upgrading to 8GB of system memory Rapid Mode still seems to take the 1GB but uses more as I begin working (I now regularly use 3.5-4GB of system ram doing normal activities and my older 2nd gen i3 laptop is now lightning fast for daily duties. The Samsung Drives come with a software you can use for cloning your drive, I tried it and it works just fine. It is easy to use, each step is clearly described as it guides you through the process. The SSD also comes with another Samsung software called Samsung Magician, this is how you enable Rapid Mode, and this did not work on my AMD machine that used nVidia storage controllers. The drive worked fine, and at full speed, but I was not able to get Rapid Mode speeds like I could on my Intel based storage controllers. This SSD came in a retail package with a driver disk and some warranty information and installation/owners manuals. It did not come with any cables or caddy/adapters. All in all, this is one of the best SSD currently available for consumer use, its fast, energy efficient, light, stays cool, and easy to install... no drama.

Awesome! I am amazed at the huge time reduction at boot up since I installed this SSD drive and moved my C drive to it. Before, I would fire up the PC and go do some chores for a few minutes. Even then, after logging in it still took another 1-2 minutes for the system to get settled in. Now, I can actually sit down and boot up the PC, see the log-in screen within 15 seconds, log in, and be ready to work within another 15 seconds. What put me onto this was that my latest PC addition, an MSI Work Station Laptop, came with an SSD C drive and a 1Tb D drive. It stunned me at how fast it booted up (with all of my graphics and engineering software also loaded on it). This led me to investigate why. Thats when I learned about the latest SSD drives, and how to install the drive and migrate the OS. Also, launch time for apps while working has increased by at least 500%! However, I would recommend that anyone who chooses to make this upgrade also install an OS backup software and get in the habit of backing up your C drive periodically. From what I have read, although SSD technology has improved considerably over the last few years, they still have a significantly shorter lifespan than mechanical hard drives; at this time anyway. One side NOTE: The migration software that came with the drive (from Samsung) did NOT work. After several attempts at following the directions completely (pretty much wasted a whole day) I finally gave up and went to Best Buy and bought a SATA to USB 3.0 cable adapter kit. The one I bought, Apricorn, also came with its own migration software, but it also did not work. So I downloaded EaseUs Partition Master (free) and used it with the SATA to USB 3.0 cable. That worked flawlessly. In fact, I highly recommend using both of EaseUs softwares (free for home use): ToDo Backup (for the C drive backup) and Partition Master (for the OS migration).

Installed as second drive in INTEL NUC i7. Installation was simple. Drive appeared in Win8.1 disk management interface. Partitioned and formatted quickly. Now fully functional. Like the form factor, weight, and power consumption. This is a nice backup drive for this machine.

I love it!!!! My laptop is way faster. I boots in 3 seconds. MS office open faster. Games load faster. Upgrade your hard drives to SSD and turn you old drive into attached storage.
