> 3 dayI spent a lot of time reading reviews when looking for vacuum cleaners and thought I should give back by leaving my own. As background, I was specifically looking for a vacuum cleaner that could handle the mountain of dog hair that my husbands dog is shedding. I was NOT prepared for the amount of dog hair that is EVERYWHERE, especially now in the heat of the summer. It looks like the dog basically sheds a whole coat every day. And the short hairs get into the fibers of any cloth - the couch, rug, chairs, clothes, even shoes. I have a thing about hair in general and I find the dog hair absolutely disgusting (plus Im allergic), so you can imagine the nightmare I was living in. Since we moved in March, its been me vs. the hair in the cleaning wars, and I have been on the lookout for the secret weapon that would give me the upper hand. Im pretty sure the reality is that its a losing battle, but I feel like I can hold my own a bit better now. Dramatic introduction aside, I needed a vacuum that could work on hard floors, low-pile area rugs, small accent rugs, upholstered furniture, tabletops and shelving. Its only been a week, but so far, I am pleased with the Shark. I can get under the couch without having to change appliances, and the dust and hair stay in the vacuum where they belong. It is a little heavier and louder than another stick vac I have owned, but much lighter and quieter than the Bissell Clearview Swivel Pet Rewind that I was using previously. It deals fairly well with the pet hair and dust on the hard floors - I always vacuum before mopping so that Im not pushing around mud, and I dont see too many dog hairs on the mop pad when Im done, but if Im feeling really thorough, I would still do a second pass with the swiffer vac. Ive been pleasantly surprised with how the upholstery tool handles the dog hair on the couch - it does a good job of getting out the short hairs. My only complaint is that its kind of heavy when using it as a hand vacuum, and its not so easy to maneuver around the couch because the tools are a little short. The suction on the rug when switched to the rug setting is actually *better* than the Bissell and gets up a lot of dust and hair. I still have to be careful with the smaller area rugs and hold down the corners with my feet when I vacuum those. The cord is plenty long - I can actually go from one room to the next without having to unplug it. The dust cup is a bit small, but emptying it is easy. It would be nice if the vacuum could stay standing upright when attached to the floor roller and if there was storage for accessories on the vacuum itself. Im a little torn as to whether its worth $160. A few years ago, I would have said definitely not, but given the landscape of vacuums these days, I dont think Im going to get the features I need all together at a lower price point, so Im pretty satisfied.

> 3 dayI bought the same model as my previous Shark vacuum because I was so pleased with the original one, which broke due to my own misuse. It’s lightweight and easy to use. Highly recommend it!

> 3 dayIt’s been about a month having this vac and it’s been great. I love that the light comes on to spotlight the dirt. It’s actually hair in my case since I have a golden retriever who sheds an insane amount of hair all over the house! It has a nice long cord so I can move freely around the room and I love how easy it is to detach from the base to use as a hand vac. The suction is great and I can get my living room and kitchen all squared away in about 5 minutes. The only issue that I have is the rubber around the handle is already peeling off. Just makes it look a lot older than it actually is.

> 3 dayI can’t believe I never reviewed this vacuum. After seven years, it’s still going strong BUT I only use it twice a month to clean a huge rug in my living room. It does an excellent job of removing all the dog hair. It is quite unwieldy and wants to go off in its own directions. Because the motor is on top and quite heavy, my wrist is really sore by the time I’ve finished. The head is small so I have to spend time going over it all but eventually I get it done. The release latches have never worked well. The dust bin latch is easier than the handheld motor release but I have to fiddle with both. I will be both sad and relieved when it finally dies. I used this last on a Monday and it took until Friday for my back to heal. I just can’t do it anymore. The swivel is just too difficult to deal with and all the weight is in my wrist.

> 3 dayWhile this is a good vacuum, I wanted one to use in the kitchen. This vacuum is very heavy and the handle is so long it is somewhat hard to control the head in small spaces because it is several feet away from me . It would be good for someone 6 feet tall who wants a lot more power than I need to pick up crumbs!

> 3 dayPros - Picks up everything. Gets under beds and furniture really well. Does a great job on floors. Cons - Very top heavy. Difficult to maneuver on plush carpet. Doesnt stand up on its own. You have to buy separately the holder to hang it up.

> 3 dayI am in love with my new vacuum! I had been using hand me downs for my whole adult life and decided to do some research to find one for pet hair. I have two cats, one of which is a medium hair breed, and working from home made me very aware of how disgusting my carpets get. Ive got some sensory issues and executive dysfunction that makes cleaning beyond a chore and needed to get something that worked well, worked quickly, could get in tight spaces, and pick up pet hair. This vacuum hit all those check marks easily! After three months of owning it, Ive actually been able to vacuum my whole apartment more times than I used to in a year. Its not overly loud, its light and easy to maneuver, and it really picks up hair insanely well even when I used it that first time (and the cat hair had been ground into the carpets for 6-12 months). I works decently on hard wood/laminate as well, Ive found it does have trouble picking up things as small as cat litter thats been tracked about but its so lightweight and easy to use that I dont mind making a few passes in the same area to pick it all up. You do need to empty it pretty frequently due to the small size, and my biggest complaint with the vacuum is that I have to unplug it to disconnect the top and bring the whole thing to empty in the trash. Its a bit frustrating to not be able and just pop out the container to empty, but the rest of the benefits FAR outweigh this one issue. I appreciate all the various attachments that come with it, although mine did not have a wall hook for storage like I thought it would. My brother in law is interested in the car detailing kit that came with it to take care of his Subaru BRZ, and my sister was able to spend 6 hours at my apartment without her cat allergies kicking in thanks to how well it worked. She even asked for a demonstration before leaving! My new vacuum has become nearly a running joke as my family finds ways to insist I bring it places. It your fathers birthday, dont you want to do something nice for him? For reference, my mom and dad have 3 cats including a long hair breed. I have told them to buy their own!

> 3 daySure it isnt the most powerful...but what did you expect? For my wood floors it does what I need it to for a daily quick vacuum of dust and hair. Works on my low pile rugs too. Love that it is so easy to remove and use as a handheld for cushions and quick baseboard cleaning.
