Unfortunately, this product did not work for me. I attempted to use it on a soldering iron that I already have been using for some time. Each time it produced a black film on the solder tip that was repelling tin. I can smell the ammonia phosphate formulation but it did not help me to clean the tip, on the contrary. I had to mechanically clean the black coating it created and tin it using a different product. I should have returned it while I could.

Ive only used it once but the results were amazing. 4/28/16 This stuff is really great. Havent had to use a new tip since I bought the tinning powder. I still have 90% of the tin left!

Honestly, this is the first time I tinned my iron before soldering, and it happened to be with a new high quality solder, so I can’t compare with my $4 soldering pens. But, it seems to work. Maybe it’s the $50 investment for a new iron, probably a huge factor.

Ive never used tinner before, but it seems to work well. It cleans up my cheap irons tip to look good again.
