I use this stuff all the time. I put the hot tip in it before each soldering. I still use a copper mesh cleaner though.

Best stuff out there for keeping your tips tinned. Works great! A must have even for those who keep their tips well maintained.

Before buying this, I thought I needed to buy a new tip for my Hakko 936 after years of misuse. Just heat up your iron and plunge the tip into the tinner material and you will be amazed; no need for new tips!
