Greater than one weekBe warned, as you walk outside into the pouring rain, and click the button with your thumb to effortlessly release your compact umbrella into a James Bond-esk canopy to release enough cover for you, your bag, and the beautiful girl from class, you may be pined with envy. Seriously though, I love this umbrella. Ive had it since 2014 (wrote this 12/16) The opening and closing acton is so satisfyingly smooth. Its compact yet huge. Invincible to wind and a total steal for price. I love this umbrella so much that Ive taken it to Europe twice, Mexico 3 times, all over the US, and survived daily use for two monsoon seasons in Arizona! Edit 4/4/19: add bouncing around the trunk, two months in Asia, two months in Guatemala, hail, snow, rain, 50mph pelting rain at 10,000 feet on a volcano, backpacking, checked bags, dive boats, a light gnawing by a pomeranian, and used as a club in a back alley skirmish... yet it still opens flawlessly. Best umbrella ever.

> 3 dayAfter several (fairly expensive) golf umbrellas that fell apart after a few uses, this umbrella seems to be well made and fairly robust. Most of the large umbrellas Ive found use cheap plastic frames that break apart quickly and are impossible to repair. This umbrella has a lightweight metal frame and a folding action that works very smoothly. I would expect it to last through many seasons.

> 3 dayI am sick of disposable umbrellas. I wanted a sturdy umbrella that would hold up to wind and I could tuck into my briefcase. This is more convenient than a traditional golf umbrella in that it collapses, but as previous reviewers have commented it is on the large size. I have a nylon briefcase/bag and this does fit in it, but not discretely--it projects out the top. However, as I travel by foot among several buildings this is useful to have available. I am willing to trade length for functionality (the extra panel for wind) . I wear glasses and absolutely detest getting water on them, hence the desire for an umbrella (I never know when a rain shower will pop up). Also the pattern (blue and white) makes it obvious, which is helpful in the dark or reduced visibility situations. I was once almost hit by a car while in a cross walk because I was wearing a dark coat and they just didnt see me.

> 3 dayIve owned several Totes umbrellas. They are stylish and have an easy open button. I especially like the ones with a vented canopy. It helps to keep the umbrella from turning inside out when the winds are strong. This umbrella is larger than the other one I own, which makes it easier to share. It comes with a handy cover to protect it. I am planning to order another one in a different color.

> 3 dayUsed this umbrella for the first time yesterday and one of the tiny brass rivets holding the upper and lower metal support pieces together broke, leaving a section of the nylon segments sagging a bit. Fixed it by aligning the metal pieces and inserting a small section of paper clip, twisting and trimming to lock it in place. Also, the handle of the umbrella is fairly short so if you have longer arms you will have them bent at all times when using the umbrella or the inner supports will be bouncing off your head. Otherwise, seems like it will work fine - it held up well on a fairly windy day even with a broken support.

> 3 dayI guess I should have known this golf-sized umbrella would cover the entire sidewalk as I walked Chicago. This umbrella is intrusive but solid. I like that it can still be compact enough to fit into a large bag. Doesnt fit so well with a messenger bag though. I expect this to make it through some tough storms, if I dont annoy everyone I walk past.

Greater than one weekSturdy umbrella, able to survive the 100mph winds that whip through the streets of downtown Boston. Big enough that it covers you from head to toe, though maybe a little too big for one person when walking down a crowded sidewalk, though the size is just right for 2 people. The strap is flexible rubber and can be kind of annoying when carrying it that way, though, as it bounces all over the place and kind of tweaks your wrist.

> 3 dayIm use to umbrellas with a large canopy and this one fits the bill. I havent had to experience strong winds just yet, but it has held up to heavy rain. The umbrella is a tad heavy, but I think it is because of the material used to construct it. Either way its all stars from me!

12-06-2025I am loving this umbrella! I live in Philadelphia, where you get a nice little (sarcasm here) wind tunnel effect between buildings. So pretty much any time you get rain, you also have wind. So far this baby has held up through rain and wind. And its plenty big enough to keep me and my backpack covered. The vent really does help in keeping the wind from grabbing the underside of the umbrella, and also makes it easier to manage in the wind, since youre not fighting your umbrella while trying to hold it at an angle that will protect you from the rain. It did invert once in a huge gust of wind, but I pointed it into the wind, and the wind blew it right back into shape. It seems to have suffered no ill effects; nothing broke, or even loosened up.

> 3 dayHad my first set stolen from me. Had to reorder two more. Great customer service from Amazon. The umbrellas themselves are amazing. I had the same exact umbrella for over 10 years. I left it behind and it was gone. Im very happy with the newer models. They feel just as good as my old one. They havent changed on quality. The secondary flap is extremely useful for those very windy days. Im a big guy. 64 290 lbs and Im able to stay dry under this. It opens to a great size. But still fits inside my backpack.
