This is a great umbrella. It is a perfect size for my preference: big enough to cover me while Im commuting and wearing a backpack, but not too big to be unwieldy in the street or cumbersome to carry closed. It is also solidly built and has been able to stand-up to some pretty strong wind gusts. You do have to be careful though, because it is a large umbrella, the wind can pull you a bit when its open. My only wish for additional features would be an auto-close button, which I mistakenly assumed this model had. More of an oversight on my part than a drawback on the umbrella.

This is one of the largest folding umbrellas you can get...about 56 across, so you can walk with another person no problem. Its not as big as a full-sized golf or bellman umbrella, which is about 68, but I needed it to fold. Its auto-open, but manual close, which is fine. It has a wrist strap and a comfortable handle. The nylon/netted case it comes with is pretty useless, really, as it has no shoulder strap.

This is a great umbrella for the price. My only issue is with the word compact. yea, its more like compact-ish. Its not quite a tote, not something you could toss into a bag, but smaller than a full-size. The trade-off is that it covers quite a bit more than a tote umbrella. Solidly built.

My only complaint about this umbrella is that there is no auto close. It really bothers me. I thought pretty much all totes umbrellas were auto close, but this one is not. Other than that its great. Ive had no issues with the material collecting water or anything. The size is great to stay dry on my walk from the car to the office. The air flow vent is perfect for windy thunderstorms.

I was tired of cheap, small umbrellas. This product exceeded expectations. I use it for work where I usually wear a suit and carry a briefcase. It is large enough to protect both body and suitcase. It is larger, so when folded up it may be twice as large as other brands, but is still small enough for easy transport. I have had no issue with wind, and the construction feels sturdy and durable. Update 6/2013- Had a real test in high wind situation and I must say I am disappointed. It was windy, but not dangerously windy and the umbrella was nearly torn apart. The main rod became bent to the point that I have to manually open it now. It inverted numerous times and connections on the ends in places were torn off. Overall for moderate conditions, umbrella worked great but with 20mph winds, leave it at home.

Just the umbrella I wanted. As others have stated, this umbrella is a tad bit heavier than the other ones out on the market however it also feels sturdier and not as flimsy due to the weight. Its definitely not one of those umbrellas you want to carry in a bag but more of one that you would use to pick up people (since it is a golf sized) and maybe leave in the car for when you do your groceries and such. If you want to carry it in your backpack, youll have to strap it to the side or expect it to poke out the top since its quite long. Other than that, its the umbrella I exactly wanted and if I had one bad thing about it is that it is not auto-close which makes me use both hands in order to close it. (The horror~~)

This is the best umbrella Ive owned. It has the perfect size to keep me dry. The vent up top prevents it from being a slave to windy conditions. It pops open as easily as the day I bought it, and I am approaching two years with this guy. The only wear is a small amount of rust on one of the joints, but it hardly noticeable. I keep one in my car at all times.

I really like the oversized hugeness of this golf-sized umbrella. The telescoping handle makes it compact enough to fit into my shoulderbag. After about two years of use, some of the thin thread holdfasts on the outer shade broke, which just meant that the material billowed out a bit over the handle when collapsed--not a huge deal. A pin in one of the arms also came out, so that arm didnt quite extend all the way. I fixed that with a paperclip. Finally, after three-and-a-half years, the button & spring mechanism wore out and the handle will no longer reliably stay on the collapsed position. I just wrapped it up with a velcro tie to keep it closed, put it in the trunk of the car for emergencies, and bought a new one for me!

It was with a heavy heart that I ordered an umbrella. After 5 years in the Southern California area, it seemed like a surrender. However, this one is pretty solid. Good gusts of wind still give it problems - but its plenty big enough to keep you and your bag dry, which is really the point. I wonder if there is a better umbrella out there as it pertains to wind resistance, but this one is fairly stable.

Probably the best umbrella I ever had. And this is coming from a student New Yorker. It keeps two people comfortably. Can fit three if you try. We have terestrial downpours and winds that you can barely walk against on the regular. Cheap umbrellas are literally one time use in these conditions if they even last that one time. It gets beaten up at the side of my backpack constantly, and yet it still worked flawlessly for two years straight. I did not need to care about it because it simply worked. I stored it while wet for whole days straight. Finally it has met its end when the telescoping handle stopped extending because it rusted. The canvas could still be extended and you can still cover yourself from rain just as well, but you have to hold it up tall. The warranty process is straightforward. Just sent two tags and some information with $5 for shipping and got a brand new umbrella two weeks later no questions asked. Well done totes! Youve earned a loyal customer.
